This young patient has lost three upper front teeth in an accident. We are preparing for computer guided implant surgery for the precision placement of three upper front implants.
Virtual wax up and its superimposition on the CAT scan of the jaw is whats needed to accomplish this.
Over the years I have learned whenever you do upper front multiple implants you should always use guided surgery instead of freehand surgery.
Because no matter how experienced implant surgeon you are, you could still make an error of 10 degrees and the cosmetics of the implant crowns will come out so-so.
And then the teeth don't look like teeth; they look like "implant teeth".
So this will be my advice to colleagues who are contemplating on doing multiple implant surgery in the cosmetic zone,
ALWAYS
use the computer guide.
Because Implant dentistry is not forgiving
SO
you want to do it right the first time!
You could enhance cosmetics of the case by doing simultaneous gum graft along with temporary implant crowns but that's a topic for another day.
